What is Dollars for Scholars?
Penn Yan Dollars for Scholars is a volunteer operated scholarship foundation. Dollars for Scholars programs are tax-exempt and publicly supported. Managed by a Penn Yan area Board of Trustees, the purpose of Dollars for Scholars is to raise funds for local scholarships and make awards to deserving students. Dollars for Scholars programs are affiliate chapters of Scholarship America .

Who is eligible for the awards?
Any graduating senior from the Penn Yan Academy. The organization believes that any sincerely determined student has a right to continue her/his education after graduation. All awards will be determined using objective criteria by a local committee based on character, promise of future success scholarship and financial need. All seniors receive an application by mail.
History
The Penn Yan Dollars for Scholars Chapter began in 1994 by a group of volunteers interested in helping students in their dream of post secondary education. Since that time, the Chapter has distributed over $100,000 to more than 200 graduates furthering their education at either four or two year colleges or trade schools. Besides money raised by the local chapter, other organizations have set up scholarships. They include:
