ATTENDANCE

It is extremely important that both parents and students cooperate in order that accurate information is kept regarding your attendance. The school day begins officially at 7:36 a.m. and ends at 2:17 p.m.. The student is expected to be in their homeroom no later than 7:36 a.m.. Lateness to homeroom will be treated as a violation of school rules and continued lateness will be subject to disciplinary action.

Parents should call the school attendance on days when their child is absent. This is very helpful to both the attendance clerk and the school nurse. Parents are asked to call the school at 536-7766, by 8:00 a.m. to report their child's absence (Even though the parent calls, a written excuse is still needed for school records upon the student's return to school.)The attendance clerk will attempt to call the parent at home or at work if not notified by the parent by 9:30 a.m..

ACADEMY DANCES

Numerous dances are scheduled throughout the year at the Academy and are meant to provide an enjoyable time for all students. Dances may be open for visitors or closed depending upon the event. PYA will enforce these rules accordingly:

Guests/Visitors attending or who are recent graduates from other schools (and can be verified) and graduates from PYA may attend Dances given Main Office approval. All guests/visitors must be under the age of 21 (NO EXCEPTIONS). Guests/Visitors will not be allowed to attend events if they are on the Stop List or the Ineligibility List at their school. The PYA student acting as host must obtain a visitor pass prior to noon on Wednesday before the event. The pass must be presented the night of the dance. Academy students will not be allowed to attend dances if they are on the Stop List or the Ineligibility List. Neither Middle school students nor Withdrawn/Dropped students from PYA or districts are allowed to attend dances at PYA, regardless.

Dances are scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m. and end at 10:00 p.m . No one will be allowed to enter the dance after 8:00 p.m. No refunds will be given. Anyone removed from the dance for disciplinary reasons will be suspended from future dances and is subject to further disciplinary measures.

Once you exit the dance, you must leave school property. There will be no sitting in cars during or after the dance. Students leaving the dance early will not be allowed to re-enter. Students, who are suspended, either in ISS or from-school on the date of the event, will not be allowed to attend dances and other extracurricular activities as outlined on the PYCSD forms.

Student members of the sponsoring organization must obtain at least 10 chaperones and arrange for a security person. The list of chaperones must be submitted to the principal by Tuesday of the week of the dance; otherwise, the dance will be canceled.
