Academic Intervention Services |
Penn Yan Academy provides Academic Intervention Services (AIS) of varying types and levels to those students who have failed OR who are deemed to be at risk of failing a state exam(s) that is required for graduation. AIS is a state mandated program.
REQUIRED STATE EXAMS
English
Global Studies
US History
Integrated Algebra
Science
TYPES OF AIS:
Academic--student is provided with assistance in the appropriate core subject(s) of English, Social Studies, Math, and/or Science
Counseling--our School Social Worker or School Psychologist provides services focused on social/emotional, family, attendance issues, etc. that are thought to be interfering with the student's ability to be successful academically
Health Related--Vision and/or Hearing Screening
LEVELS OF SERVICES:
Progress Monitoring--student's performance is monitored by the classroom teacher (or assigned staff member)
Push-In--an additional teacher or teacher assistant provides services within the classroom
Add-On--student is assigned to a separate class in addition to his/her regular class, during which small group or individualized instruction in the specific subject area is provided
