The bus loop at Penn Yan Elementary School became an outdoor classroom last month as trucks, cars, emergency vehicles and equipment rolled onto campus for a special “Touch-a-Truck” career exploration event.
Students in pre-K through second grade had the chance to see the vehicles up close, climb aboard, ask questions and sound some horns. They learned how construction, transportation, emergency service and community support vehicles help people each day.
The event gave students a fun way to learn about jobs in their community. It also helped them connect classroom learning to the world around them.
Thank you to the PYE staff members who planned the event, as well as the community volunteers and local organizations who shared their time and vehicles with students. Their support helped create a memorable learning experience for our youngest learners.
