Students-Athletes Participate in Special Olympics

Penn Yan student-athletes took part in the Wayne-Finger Lakes Region Special Olympics, hosted by Newark Central School District on Friday, May 29.

Nearly 1,000 student-athletes, volunteers and families from school districts across Wayne and Ontario counties came together at Newark High School for a day of competition, inclusion and celebration.

Throughout the event, our Mustang student-athletes showed determination, supported one another and represented Penn Yan with pride.

“Events like the Special Olympics are a wonderful reminder of what school communities are all about,” Superintendent Greg Baker said. “It was inspiring to see our student athletes competing, encouraging one another, working together, and enjoying the opportunity to be part of such a meaningful day.”

Congratulations and to everyone who participated and thank you to the staff, families, volunteers and organizers who helped make the day possible!
