Penn Yan Academy Student Jenna Thompson Named Carson Scholar

Penn Yan Academy student Jenna Thompson was recently named this year’s PYA recipient of the Carson Scholars Fund.

The Carson Scholars Fund is a national scholarship program that recognizes students in grades 4-11 who demonstrate outstanding academic achievement and a strong commitment to community service. To be considered, students must maintain at least a 3.75 GPA and be nominated by an educator from their school.

Carson Scholars receive a $1,000 college scholarship, a medal and recognition for their accomplishments. Selection is based on academics, leadership, character and humanitarian qualities demonstrated through service to others.

“Jenna is a wonderful student and a strong example of the academic excellence, leadership and commitment to service that we strive to foster in our students,” Penn Yan CSD Superintendent Dr. Greg Baker said. “As one of our Student Board of Education members, Jenna has already demonstrated her commitment to representing her peers and serving her school community. We are proud to see her hard work and character recognized through the Carson Scholars Fund, and we congratulate her on this well-deserved honor.”

Congratulations, Jenna!
