The event, which is run every other year, gives students and community members a behind-the-scenes look at farming and a small peek into the world of agriculture.
Friday was reserved for student field trips and several surrounding districts also participated. Students began their day with some entertainment while they waited for a guided wagon tour that took them around the farm to show them various aspects of the dairy farm.
From the bunk where feed is kept to the digester that turns manure into usable energy, students learned about many aspects of the farming industry and how it affects their daily lives. Students also took part in hands-on activities and educational displays and even got to enjoy an ice cream cone to wrap up the field trip!
The goal of Fun on the Farm is to bridge the gap between the agricultural community and the non-farming community and build a relationship of understanding and respect. Fun on the Farm will be held again in 2028 at DeBoover Farms in Phelps, NY.
