School Board Recognition Week!

Each year, the New York State School Boards Association celebrates School Board Recognition Week, a dedicated time to promote awareness and understanding of the vital work performed by a school district’s board members.

Kicking off on Monday, October 12, School Board Recognition Week highlights school board members for their commitment to New York public school children.

“The individuals on our school board are deeply committed to our students, our families, our community, and our future,” said Superintendent, Dr. Gregory Baker. “Their leadership and service is undoubtedly some of the most important work being done in our district and the impact it has stretches far beyond the walls of our classrooms.”

Dr. Baker added, “It is an honor to celebrate our board members and acknowledge their selfless commitment to our students. They don’t just set policies. They shape our future, champion equity, and ensure that our mission is woven into the fabric of our school community.”

Dr. Baker noted that the school board focuses on student achievement by ensuring our core commitments are at the heart of what we do; engage, educate, empower, and enrich every student, every day.

Penn Yan Central School District Board of Education members include President Kenneth Walker, Vice President Robin Johnson, Karl Fleming, Stacey Gerhardt, Denise Hopkins, Alicen Pidlisny, and Sharon Sweet.

“Although we make an extra effort to show our appreciation this week, their contribution is a year-round commitment and we are so grateful for the work they do for every student, every day,” Dr. Baker ended.
