On Tuesday, the Penn Yan Central School District announced the successful installation of a year-long window decal project.
The substantial upgrade comes as part of an ongoing capital improvement project and the design is indicative of what it truly means to be a Penn Yan Mustang. Bearing the district’s historic blue and orange colors is a herd of mustangs moving forward together, characteristic of the school’s vision of “Every Student, Every Day”.
The decal also displays the words ‘Penn Yan Home of the Mustangs’ in large, capitalized font, expressing the pride that reverberates throughout the school community. The sleek new installation preserves the historical integrity of the campus while giving the exterior a clean, revitalized look.
The modernization of the windows was thoughtfully designed to increase student safety, as well. Prior to the installation of the building-long decal, anyone outside the building was able to see directly into the cafeteria and main entrance hallways. The decal allows for more privacy and student safety as those inside the building can see out, but those outside cannot see in.
“Our top priority is ensuring our staff and students have safe spaces to teach and learn, and we also want them to feel a sense of pride when they walk in the door every day,” said Superintendent Dr. Greg Baker. “The addition of this incredible window decal allows us to accomplish both.”
The design was crafted over the course of a year and included input from students at Penn Yan Academy. The result is a collaboration of graphic design work from the Wayne-Finger Lakes BOCES Communications Department and Streamline Designs, LLC. Coordination and assistance were also provided by Iversen Construction Corporation.
“We are so impressed by the hard work and attention to detail that went into this project from start to finish,” said Dr. Baker. “This addition truly amplifies the facade at the Academy and reflects our ongoing commitment to increasing school safety and promoting Mustang Pride,” he ended.
